Blue Carbon - what is it and why does it matter?
21 February 2020
Starts: 19:30
Ends: 22:00

‘Blue carbon’ refers to carbon stored and sequestered by natural marine habitats. Orkney is surrounded by coastal ecosystems with seagrass, kelp forests, saltmarsh and maerl beds all having a vital role to play.  Dr Joanne Porter from Heriot-Watt ICIT will discuss her research as part of this global initiative which aims to better understand how oceans can mitigate climate change. All welcome.
