Papa Westray soldier photos

Anne Rendall, the Chair of the Orkney Family History Society, has kindly provided original photos of three Great War soldiers from Papa Westray which have been added to the website.  Thomas Miller died in April 1917, serving in 8th/10th Gordons during the Battle of Arras.  Thomas Irvine was discharged sick in August 1917, after serving in 8th Seaforths during the Battles of the Somme and Arras, and died of kidney failure in September 1918.  Thomas's younger brother, George Irvine, was wounded in February 1917 serving in Canadian 67th Battalion, but survived the war and returned to Victoria, British Columbia.  The photos can be seen in the Papa Westray portrait section using the link below.
