Saturday Workshop Groups
We have a number of craft related groups that meet at Number 25, Bridge Street. Feel free to come along. If you would like to come you can just turn up on the day. Booking isn’t essential, but if you can give us a call on 988724 beforehand so we will have an idea of the numbers attending.
People of all ages are welcome although if you are under 12 you will need to be accompanied by an authorised adult, and we can only take young peope wh have reached school age.
On the second Saturday of each month the Spinning Group meets from 10.30am until 12.30pm and an afternoon session from 1.30 until 3.30pm. Come along for half the day or the whole day, whichever suits you.
If you have never tried spinning before, have some basic skills that you want to develop or just want to come along for the blether you are welcome.
The cost is £3 for a half day, or £5 for the whole day, and and covers all the materials. We have several different wheels for you to try and we will happily work with you if you have a wheel at home that requires a little TLC.
This group meets on the third Saturday of the month from 10.30am - 12.30.
This goup is led by Jean, an experienced lace-maker from Shapinsay, and is suitable for all skill levels. All materials can be supplied. For beginners please book in advance so that we have things ready for you.
The group meets on the third Saturday of each month from 1.30 to 3.30pm.
You can create pictures or 3-D models out of fibre, the options are limited only by your imagination.
(This group uses sharp barbed needles so children MUST be accompanied by an adult.)
Knit n Natter Group
On the fourth Saturday of each month the Knit n Natter Group meets from 1.30 - 3.30pm.
If you have never picked up your knitting needles, have some basic skills that you want to develop or just want to come along for the blether you are welcome.
The cost is just £2, including refreshments.
Portrait group will still be held at For Arts Sake on the fourth Saturday of each month. Portrait Group allows people who want to have a chance to draw faces to meet at 10.30am and finishes 12.30pm.
The cost is £2 to allow you to drop in for as long as you can spare.
Under the careful eye of Violet you will discover this traditional craft, learning the skills to create your own distinctive patterns that can be used in a myriad of ways.
There will be a small charge of £3 per session which includes a cuppa.
Bring along a basic sewing kit of thread, needles, scissors and pins, if you have one. Also bring along any cotton fabric that you may have in your stash, although we will provide started materials for you to use.
