PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP 1 APRIL 8th 2015

by Tim Wright - 08:47 on 09 April 2015

Twelve of us went to Copland's Dock today, at last in glorious sunshine. The sky was blue making the Polarising filter a must. There were lots of strong colours on the pier with yellows the predominant colour. There wasn't enough rust about for Steve who wandered about trying to imagine it all in ten years time when his favourite colour will be in abundance. There were stone dykes, the Hamnavoe, red fishing boats and a few obliging birds on the water for Tom.

We then went to the Stromness Café and sat on the outside balcony to have our tea. Richard's dog helped with clearing up the crumbs much to the disgust of a rather tame starling. Understandably, the photos of Gurness were limited but a couple of attractive shots of the spray going over the MV Eynhallow caught the eye as well as the unusual railings there made out of old telegraph poles and stopping us being blown out to sea.

"Reflections" produced some stunning images including a few familiar to some of the Camera Club members. The underside of the A1 bridge at Doncaster, an Orcadian/Greek Goddess looking in her mirror, some beautifully reflected hills, mountains, snow scenes competed with an image of David when young, showing he even had a beard in those days! Well, the camera never lies as the photo of my remarkably effective diet showed.

The next meeting is at 2pm on May 6th at Kirbister Farm Museum, hopefully with bluebells to the fore. Then to Birsay Tea Rooms for perusal of today's photos and the "Wood" (including a rusty nail or two for some members ) Project for this month .

Keep clicking,

Tim
