MAGNUS 900 EGILSAY

MAGNUS 900 EVENT - EGILSAY

Saturday 15th April 2017

Easter weekend  the start of many events commemorating 900 years since MAGNUS lost his life here on Egilsay.

What a fantastic day we had.

A glorious day in April when 80 or so folk took the boat from Tingwall to Egilsay and came to pay homage to St Magnus the Martyr on our small isle which has its place forever in history.

Prayers, re - enactments, song, storytelling, viking games, art work from Rousay Community School and Soup and Scones provided by the Pier Restaurant - Rousay.

Thanks to one and all who made this a very special day for us here on Egilsay

The photos speak for themselves but special thanks to the pupils and teachers of Rousay Community School for the fantastic art work - many, many days work to produce the stained glass windows telling the the story of St Magnus.

The Pier Restaurant Rousay for fabulous soup and scones

...and of course Antony Mottershead - OIC Arts Officer who pulled it all together

Many Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a brilliant day
