Volunteering at Employability Orkney

We welcomed a new volunteer in July who was going to help us out for a couple of hours a week throughout the summer. This is what Arthur had to say about his experience volunteering at Employability Orkney.

"Volunteering at Restart has been a very pleasant experience for me, I’m a university student heading into my second year, and as part of the conditions of a scholarship I receive I was required to complete 25 hours of volunteering. I decided to exceed this, and work towards a 50 hour saltire award. I chose to volunteer at Restart because I believe in the mission of its parent charity, Employability Orkney, and I also wanted something a little different, which is charity shop work. I found the whole experience rewarding, with the team at Restart being extremely welcoming. I really enjoyed interactions with the many friendly customers that frequent the shop, and I had great fun sorting through the various donations that came in. Organising displays, and posting to social media were 2 more parts of the job that I really enjoyed. In general, I think Restart has given me an excellent experience, and more appreciation for the kind of work done in retail."

We want to say thank you to Arthur for volunteering at Employability Orkney throughout the summer and wish him all the best in future.
