You are invited to a walk around Faraclett Head, Rousay, on Saturday, 13th July led by John Crossley.
In this superb area of coastal grassland and heath we will be looking at wildlife including birds, mammals, flowers and insects. Sea and coastal birds will be to the fore, while the geology favours a great variety of plants, including Primula scotica and Juniper (the latter not seen for many years – will we find it?).
The walk takes us along a sign-posted path with stiles and gates, a distance of about 2.5 km. Walking conditions are generally good though steep in places. There will be time to explore further in the vicinity. Please bring waterproofs, sturdy footwear and lunch.
The ferry leaves Tingwall at 08.40, returns from Rousay at 15.20. Transport in Rousay is by shared cars.
Booking is essential , please contact John Crossley at flawsjohn@gmail.com to book your place on the walk.
