Lesley took a group out to Hoy for the day. We went to Benethill for our lunch, which was delicious, generous helpings too. After that we drove through to Rackwick, stopping opposite the Dwarfie stone to see the eagles but had no luck.
When we got into the car park in Rackwick the first thing we spotted was the eagles soaring around for a few minutes (there were two people sitting having a cup of tea with their backs to the birds who completely missed the spectacle!). It was great to actually spot the eagles and they really weren’t that far away.
We drove over to Longhope and stopped to pay our respects to Harrold Minter on the way! Some of us had a look round the lifeboat museum. We then had a drive around and headed back to Lyness and had a wee picnic in the bus before the boat came back to take us to Houton.
A good day had by all.
