The next Songshare event will be in Kirkwall, to be held in the St Magnus Centre, Kirkwall from 2pm - 4.30pm on Saturday 31st January 09. The RNLI are having an open day on Saturday too, so what better way to spend your day than having a quick swizz around a lifeboat followed by a bit of a singsong! As with all our Songshares, the format takes a short informal concert followed by a chance to mingle, drink tea and eat biscuits, followed by a workshop to learn a new (or rather, an old) Orkney song! And all this is absolutely free!! What a bargain! The Kirkwall event will be a bit special as Brian Cromarty (Saltfishforty and The Chair) has been asked to compose some music for an old song for which the tune is unknown. This will be the very first time this song has been heard - by anyone (apart from Brian, obviously!). Come and share this special experience with us.
