Launch event for Winter Show 2024!
We're now pleased to confirm the details of this year's winter show!Our launch event for "Sammy's Magic Garden" by Kjartan Poskitt takes place on Sunday 25 August at 2.30pm in our premises at the Old Herring Factory.
The story starts as Sammy moves into an old house along with his lively mum and inventor dad. Almost immediately he is aware of spooky goings on, but only his school friend Alice believes him. Why won't Compost the gardener let him look round? Who leaves messages in his homework book, who owns the mysterious doll that keeps appearing, is the birthday cake really poisoned, what is nasty Miss Nettle's secret and why does the sundial chime at midnight?
This is a pantomime show with slapstick, music, mad jokes and a songsheet - and we need lots of young actors and actresses to take part!
Our two main characters are Sammy and their best friend (both any gender) who will be secondary school age and both have solo singing. We then have a group of their friends with smaller speaking parts and chorus singing from age 8 upwards. Finally there is a non-speaking chorus of children and young people age 8 upwards playing school kids and ghosts with chorus singing.
The adult roles in the show are for Sammy's mum and dad; Miss Nettle the housekeeper and Compost the gardener; all with solo singing.
