Photography Group 31st Oct 2012

by Unknown - 20:57 on 31 October 2012

Eleven of us met up today and viewed Steve's excellent exhibition in the Loft gallery. He gave us the low down on some of his compositions and how he had got his results. He is an undoubted wizz with the camera and his results in black and white are outstanding. It certainly gave us all food for thought and with that with that in mind we retired to The Sands in Burray for lunch !
We viewed all the photos from the last couple of sessions at the Fossil Museum and Inganess . At the former, the multiple fossil fish stone and the UV lit stones seemed to have caught the eye while at the latter it was Rose Hips, the Coast Guard Tug and the wreck lying off the beach. Some "Field " entries were seen with post harvest lines of straw to the fore as well as some colourful wild flower meadows."Autumn" provided lots of inspiration from Basingstoke Canal with Autumnal woods, the Autumn Steam train special on the Speyside Railway at Aviemore, alongside many beautiful trees and leaves of all shades of brown to red and purple.Well done to all the many contibutors.
We then headed to a rather cool Eastside in South Ron where photos were taken of the church, the Beach, the roofless house and the Old winches as well as the carved Millenium standing stone with its enigmatic symbols .
I am investigating the next meeting that will be at the end of November.I will look into going to Orkney Brewery in Sandwick .More information when I have it.Meanwhile the project for this month is "Cloudscapes" .Land /sea can be included but the majority of the photo should be the skies with clouds featuring somewhere. On the return form Eastside, the sun came out giving a wonderful low light and giving the three of us in my car stunning sunset views from above the second Barrier.I am sure some will feature next meeting.
Keep clicking or, now that it is getting dark so early , perhaps I should say Keep Flashing ! (No, perhaps not ! )
Tim
