Birdie Group - Feb 2016

by Ken O'Connor - 16:48 on 17 February 2016

I would like to thank everyone for his or her input today for the lovely relaxed walk we enjoyed to Mill Dam on Shapinsay. We were lucky with the weather after yesterday’s gales.

After tallying up again the various bird species we observed it came to 24 all told  with the most noticeable being teal, widgeon, oystercatchers, curlew and a few redshanks; not forgetting the cock pheasant in the field which did not move, which took a lot of looking at and discussion to actually prove it was a bird. On the sea we saw a few mergansers and one great northern diver, also lazy seal and herons.

Thanks to Tim for taking the photos which are self explanatory, with everyone enjoying a pleasant day out.

Next outing will be on March 16th meeting up at the Bu, but more information nearer the time.
