U3A Music Group's report

We last met on Monday the 7th and Ally had chosen " Woodwind " as the theme-

I think we had examples of each instrument -except the piccolo and contra bassoon-and it was a varied and instructive morning-

Here follows is a selection of some of the items we listened to-

For solo bassoon-Yeni Makam-Turkish Folk music,Cor Anglais-Vasks -concerto,

For clarinet-the Banks of Green Willow,

Another clarinet-Aker Bilk-Petitm Fleur,Cor Anglais again-The Swan of Tuonela,

Vogelstimmen-played on a flute made from a wingbone of a swan-

Rhapsody in Blue-Gershwin and clarinet-

Pearl Fishers duet ,played on the flute by one of our members daughters-

Benda-Flute concerto,

Oboe-Mozart-and many more-

A super way to spend a dreary ( weather wise) Monday morning-listening to very good music and looking out on to beautiful views-plus home made malt loaf and excellent coffee!

We continue to meet the first Monday of the month-at 10-30 a.m.

We would like more members-so please try a session!

Angela
