Tragic short-sightedness towards Orkney’s renewables

Dear Sir,
This being April 1st, in the year of Scotland’s much yearned for escape from the Westmonster Tory Government, disgracefully propped up by opportunist aparachids, who were once Liberals, I wish it was an “April Fool”, when I write aghast, at the laying waste of Orkney’s prospects in the Renewable Energy sector but this Tragic Short Sightedness, greeted with near hysterical glee, on both sides of the Commons, last week, is a sad reality.

These articles catalogue the banal and dreary point scoring between New Labour and the LibDem supported market orientated Thatcherite Tory Westmonster Government, which yesterday 31st March (just one day too early for an April Fool) comes out with its Fool Employment folly. Osborne seeks to redefine the term Full Employment in a foolish new way.
All this might be amusing if it were not for the very real perils in this total lack of Planning for the energy provision in the UK. Now within 2% of BLACK OUT! This is no joke if you happen to be a patient on an operating table when Ed Davey’s irresponsibilty produces a darkness, matched only by their short sighted obsession with markets.
At the same time as the Tories go cap in hand to China to borrow huge sums of money from China in order to fund French companies to build new Nuclear Power plants in England, they approve of Fracking, while starving our Renewables of vital investment and connections to the grid.
Then they tell us we are Better Together and Rennie tells us the sun is shining? Is this another April Fool? Have the lessons of Chernobyl and Fukishima and the ghastly accounts of Fracking from the USA been so easily forgotten?
Viking Scots of Orkney reject Westmonster and its dangerous point scoring, partisan, irresponsible, policies. Scotland and Orkney can and Should do Better! Vote YES on 18th September 2014.
Yours faithfully,
Arthur Alexander Robertson (Independent for YES Orkney & Scotland)
