Biographies of George and Ruby Shearer have been added to the Eday section of the website and can be accessed using the link below.  George served on LST 420 in the Mediterranean and at Normandy, but was killed when she hit a mine and sunk off Ostend on 7th November 1944.  His sister Ruby served in the WAAF, as an engine fitter/mechanic at Longman Airfield, Inverness.  Their service records, and a great deal of background information, were obtained by great niece Marlene Rorie, who also provided the photo of Eday Home Guard and their identities shown on the website.
