The funeral was held in Kirkwall today of Jim Shearer, businessman and World War 2 veteran.  Jim was a "gentleman of the old school", who will be very sadly missed by his family and many friends throughout the islands and further afield.  Jim's wartime photo has been added to the website World War 2 photos section of the Kirkwall page, which can be seen using the link below.  Also added to the Word Documents section of that page tonight is the biography of Dora Budge, who worked in Kirkwall Post Office during the war.  Dora was one of many Orcadian women who married servicemen posted to Orkney and left after the war to make a new life outside the islands.
