Cathedral mason Colin Watson and his apprentice Sophie Turner completed a tricky job today, by adding a new panel to the bottom of the south World War 2 pillar of Kirkwall War Memorial. The panel was arranged by Kirkwall Royal British Legion and commemorates Lance Corporal Colin Leslie of the Gordon Highlanders, who was killed in Northern Ireland by a booby trap bomb set by the Provisional IRA on 18th June 1972.  A service will be held shortly to formally dedicate the new panel, a photo of which can be seen using the link below.
