James Norquay's RNR service details

The National Archives have recently made available to download online the service records of most Great War Royal Naval Reserve sailors.  Among those of about 500 Orcadians is that of James Norquay, whose death in World War 2 was remembered last year by adding a plaque and photo inside Flotta Kirk.  James Norquay's Great War RNR service record states that he was mentioned in dispatches "for gallant conduct and good seamanship under fire" in October 1917.  The Word document copies of his biography and that of the Norquay Brothers in the website Flotta section have been updated with details of the action, while a pdf of James Norquay's service and death can be downloaded direct using the link below.
