A group photo was taken at Queenstown, now Cobh, county Cork in September 1916, showing seven North Isles soldiers who trained there together after joining the Royal Garrison Artillery. All their service records survived the German bombing of Whitehall in September 1940 and have been downloaded from WO 363 Burnt Records. After crossing to France two months later, three of the Orcadians joined one battery while the other four separated.
