Nan Scott, who now lives in Kirkwall, provided the four Great War portrait photos added today to the Westray section of the website. They include John R Kent, who won the Military Cross in 1918 and was headmaster of Pierowall School from 1921 to 1957.  John R's younger daughter, Jean Drever, via Catherine Stevenson and Nancy Scott of Westray Heritage Centre, provided an unpublished history of his artillery brigade, with margin comments by John R.  It has been used as the main source for the biography of John R Kent added as a pdf to the Westray website section, that can also be downloaded direct using the link below.
