A short commemorative service was held at lunchtime today at the Kirkwall War Memorial, to remember the eight Orcadians who died in the War against Japan that ended 70 years ago today.  A web page with a couple of photos and short description of the event can be downloaded using the link below.  There is a list with brief details of the eight Orcadians in the War against Japan page in the Battlefield Casualties section of the website.  There are World War 2 portrait photos of four of the eight Orcadians in the sections covering their local war memorials.  The website would be very pleased to add portrait photos of any of the other four, if someone has one available, also new portrait photos of any of the 83 veterans of 226 HAA Battery who served in India and Burma.
