Today is the centenary of the death of another Orcadian in the scenically beautiful, but then deadly, low lying hills on the western side of Gallipoli.  Harry Linklater had given up his job in a Sydney department store in February 1915, to join 18th Australian Battalion.  Only three days after landing on the peninsula on 19th August, it was ordered forward to attack the well-entrenched Turkish positions on Hill 60.  Harry was one of the nearly 200 Australians killed in the brave attack that made no significant gain.  Harry's story is available as a Word document in the Stromness section of the website, or can be donloaded direct as a pdf using the link below.
