Three Orphir Seaforths
Today is the centenary of the death, in a Sussex hospital from diphtheria, of George Robson. He had served seven months in France and Flanders, before died aged only 18. During November 1914, probably in excited anticipation of adventures to come, George and two other Orphir young men joined up together. Only one of the three Orphir soldiers survived the Great War, John Shearer, but he died aged only 37 in 1930.
