13423 Private David W Munro of Rousay
Today is the centenary of the death in France of David Munro of Rousay. David was an early volunteer to join Kitchener's New Army, joining the HLI from his shop assistant job in Glasgow. David did not have the chance to take part in one of the great battles in France or Flanders. He was killed during "routine trench warfare", while his unit was settling in to conditions in the trench lines.
