PLY/330(S) Private William Garrioch Sinclair of Stromness

This Remembrance Sunday is the centenary of the death of the only Orcadian Royal Marine killed in the Battle of the Somme.  William Sinclair of Stromness survived the Royal Naval Division's nine months' service in the difficult Gallipoli campaign, but he was killed during the RND's first major action on the Western Front, the capture of the Somme village of Beaucourt.  William's biography has been added as a Word document to the Stromness section of the website, or can be downloaded direct as a pdf using the link below.
