S/17337 Private Robert Johnston Linklater of Stenness

Elma Bews kindly provided a good photo in uniform of her father, Robert Linklater, along with a note that he was gassed in the Great War and was often ill until his death.  Luckily details of Robert's war service survived in both the WO 363 Burnt Records and WO 364 Pension Records collections.  These have been used, along with details from war diaries and civil records, to complete a biography of Robert Linklater's war service.  He was one of many British Army soldiers whose health was blighted by the use of poison gas for most of his life - which was also shortened by the damage it had done.  Robert's biography can be downloaded as a pdf from the Stenness section of the website, or directly using the link below.
