6649TS Trimmer George Robert Harvey of Firth
Today is the centenary of the death at sea of sailor George Harvey of Firth, aged just 19. George was called up from working in the fishing fleet out of Grimsby in May 1917. After only six weeks' service in the Royal Naval Reserve, George became one of the 26 Orcadian RNR sailors commemorated on one of the Orkney war memorials, out of over 200 who served during the Great War.
