Today is the centenary of the death in France of William Cromarty of South Ronaldsay.  William was the first of the three American Orcadians remembered on Orkney War Memorials to die in France.  William's website biography was written by George Esson for his book For Freedom & Honour, published in 2001, with photos added of the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and his grave, after a visit by Brian and Sandy Budge in July 2008.  It can be downloaded as a pdf from the South Ronaldsay section of the website, or directly using the link below.
