Kirk Survey October 2018
The Session met on Thursday 18 October and considered the findings of the Kirk Survey. The report and Plan were approved. The next step is to submit the survey and collated information to the fabric committee of Orkney Presbytery and the General trustees with view to :
1) Remodelling the hall and vestry. This will require the services of an architect. An application will be made for financial assistance to the General Trustees .
2) Upgrade the heating, insulation and glazing of the whole building. Specific advice will be sought from the Church of Scotland heating engineer/consultant who will liaise with the architect .
3) Improve comfort levels of seating. Offer a choice of seating by reducing the number of pews and enhancing comfort of those remaining, by provision of purpose made pew cushions and replacing the removed section of pews and with suitable chairs.
4) Contact the people who volunteered to be part of a working group and prepare an Action Plan to progress the project.
