This week’s Psalm: Psalm 1: The Secret of Happiness
Happy the one who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the circle of the scoffers,
but whose delight is in the teaching of the Lord,
meditating in his teaching day and night.
Such a one shall be like a tree well planted by channels of water,
giving its fruit at the proper time, its leaves never withering –
yes, all this person does shall be fruitful.
Not so the wicked, for they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgement,
nor sinners in the assembly of the just.
For the Lord knows the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked shall come to nothing.
Grant, Lord, that through study of your word and nourishment by your grace, we may know the happiness of walking the good way where you are ever at our side.
