Holm Regatta 1991
Thirteen Snipes and ten other boats took part in this year's annual Holm Regatta on Saturday. Only two yachts took part as a number of local boats were away taking part in the Findhorn Race. The first races were sailed in light westerly winds followed by rain later in the afternoon.
Commodore S. Muir thanked the officials at the pier, crews on the rescue boats, fee collector, raffle sales girls, ladies for the excellent lunch, and a special thank you in the form of a book token to Norman Johnstone for services to the club in the rescue boat and maintenance. A very successful supper dance was held at the Commodore Motel in the evening.

Longhope Regatta 1991
Longhope Regatta was held on Saturday June 30. A strong cold east wind, haze and drizzle characterised the day, unfortunately.
The regatta nevertheless attracted a field of 14 assorted sailing boats, four rowing boats and the usual collection of wonderful floating objects for the raft race.

The raft race was marred slightly by a flase start but neither the rain nor the lifeboat's fire hose could dampen the enthusiasm of the competitors.
The winners were Paul Spence and Keith Forbes who thereby become the first holders of the Derek Sutherland Memorial Trophy.
Kirkwall Regatta 1991
For the first time in many years the Orkney Sailing Club's regatta was held in excellent conditions with blue skies, bright sunshine and a light to moderate southerly wind.
The only problem of the day was the fluctuation in the wind which at times disappeared completely, causing a few headaches for the leaders but some joy for the back markers who were passing the leaders at times.
A total of 28 boats took part with class races for yachts, catamarans, merlin rockets, snipes, wayfarers and 505s. There was also a centreboard race and dinghies allcomers event.
At the prizegiving the commodore David Sabiston welcomed all the visiting sailors, thanked the ladies for the excellent meal and support throughout the year, the rescue boat crews who had a quiet day and the timekeepers who ran the whole show with great patience and understanding.
Bob Moar read out the list of prize winnersand Mrs. Ina Gilbertson presented the trophies and a dance followed till the small hours.
The next event for OSC is the Kemp Cup which will be held on Saturday, August 24 (please note the change of date) and the inter- county sailing in Scalloway on Saturday September 7.
