Photography- March
by Unknown - 12:29 on 30 March 2012
Eight folk met up in the Sands Car park on March 28th.It was cool and blustery, but dryish to start with. Folk quickly spread out to take photographs of all the interesting places and objects found throughout the village...boats, innovative creels, beach debris, gardens, piers, plants and people tempted the lense..however rain stopped play and a rapid retreat into the Sands was called for. The hotel did us proud with ad lib fresh coffee, a large pot of steaming tea and home bakes to break the strictest diet..the scones were still warm, with rhubarb Jam....so tasty. Conversation went from saving the earth to the latest Oscar winner showing at the Picky but the stars of the show were the delightful photographs of St Michael’s taken on the previous trip and the ‘homework’ subject, ‘Memorabilia’. The church was tricky due to the light and the abundance of photographers , memories provoked much interest, humour and entertainment. Excellent photographs and a splendid group meeting despite the weather.
The next meeting will be on 25th April when we will be going to Lyness, Hoy from Houton. Wednesday is the day the volunteers are working on the Otterbank and not only is the museum of interest there is now plenty of action with the renewables industry at the pier plus the WWII buildings. The more energetic may make it up to Wea Fea... the Hoy Head departs Houton at 10.15 am and returns at either 14.04 or 16.40.... no need for cars but we will organise transport for the less mobile.
