BOTANY GROUP

by Caroline - 18:49 on 14 May 2014

We met in Orphir and discussed plans.  We have decided to try a set date - currently the 1st Thursday in the month - then if we are away or have to miss or anything else, at least we know when the next outing will be.

Louise is going to organise the outing on 5th June with a visit to either Black Crag or Yesnaby to find the elusive primula scotica.  If you would like to come, we will meet at 1045 in the carpark outside the Garson Dental Clinic to share car journeys to the chosen venue - Louise will decide which to go to!

I am aware these plans may not suit everyone.  Please let me know your preferences - if you don't tell me, I can't change anything!  These plans are not set in stone!

It would be really great if Effy and or Sally were able to come - we need your knowledge!  I quite understand why you are not able to come, but if on the day you decide a trip out would be good, please come along.

Chris and I had a lovely walk through the Breck woods today - lots of spring/early summer flowers and trees just opening their buds.  Magic!  Pink Purslane, white, pink and blue-bells, celandine, kingcups, mouse eared chickweek, unfurling bracken, and some plants we could not identify.  Along the cliff edge were scots lovage, angelica, flowering prostrate willow and violets.  Also other plants we could not identify!  The sun shone and though the wind was cool, we had a very pleasant time.

I'll look forward to our next outing.  Please would you let Louise know whether or not you are coming by email or phone - 850434.

Please can you let me know what you would like to do on our outings.  One thing I would like to do is to revist a place at different times of the year to see how they change.  Please also let me know whether the current plans of who and when are OK with you.

Best wishes, Caroline
