Birdie group

by Unknown - 09:25 on 21 September 2012

The Birdie group enjoyed a very successful outing on Wednesday 19th. Walking from the Oyce at Herston along the shore to observe the sea birds of which were very scarce, with only a few redshanks , and a lone knot which was looking very lonely for it's mates, but the eider ducks were still about in their summer plumage. Over the Wart to the Dam of Hoxa which was a pleasant walk watching the lapwings and golden plover,  with the curlews also in abundance in the fields. Then it was back to the Sands of Wright and on to the tea room at the end of Hoxa where some members took refreshments.
A really enjoyable outing which was appreciated by all.  As a bonus the weather was kind with a shower at start and end so not bad.
The next October meet is a week later on the 24th Oct which will be in Rendall and the Loch of Brockan.
