BIRDING - NOVEMBER

by Liz Lea - 15:58 on 23 November 2012

Wednesday 21 Nov 2012. 16 birders set off from Tomb of Eagles on a lovely day "atween waathers". En route some 65 grey seal pups were counted along with 26 bird species. The highlights among these was a woodcock (alas, not seen by the leaders!) and it was cheering to see a party of shags already sporting their summer crests. The fresh southerly wind created lots of splash & swirl as we walked round to Burwick. Cars had been left there to take us back to the Tomb of the Eagles where we were treated to a viewing of the new Mesolithic exhibition room (very interesting). Thanks go to Freda & Kathleen for permission to park at Liddell Farm. The group send their good wishes to Ken & hope some resolution is in sight for him and for Judy.

P.S. Because of much editing of my "homework" I omitted the MOST IMPORTANT event of the day which was soup & homemade bread at Barbara & Peter's new abode! This really was most welcome and everyone was in awe of Barbara's quiet efficiency. It was delicious, thank you guys.
