PHOTOGRAPHY JANUARY 2013

by Tim Wright - 18:04 on 31 January 2013

Thirteen of us got together at the Dounby Centre yesterday and viewed member's contributions. We started with a very detailed trip around the archaeology of Jordan including some stunning shots of Petra and the surrounds from Margaret.Next up was Barbara showing why cruising combined gastric excess with trips around the cities of the North east Coast of the USA.What a wonderful image of Barbara's husband faced with a pizza which was so large it could have been a spare wheel for a car.Chris then took us for a meander around Maderia and very comprehensive it was too ,showing off that island very well.I had hoped he would have had photos of the sledges hurtling down the street from the Botanic Gardens but he had sensibly avoided this, unlike us .It was the watching the traffic crossing the street ahead of us as we rocketed towards them at break neck speed that I remember because there was no way we were stopping at traffic lights  !! Thank you to all three of you for your efforts on our behalf .It made a typical Orkney winter afternoon go by very quickly indeed.
Photos of the Brewery trip were then perused with some lovely detail shots of all that stainless steel as well as some of the group and one or two of the individuals with silly hats and tasting the hops (Don't forget to tell your friends how tastey they are !)
The "Trees in Seasonal  Setting "was very well supported with lots of Christmas trees ,quite a lot of snow and a few photos of other seasons than than we have now. Thanks to everyone for the contributions.I think it is very interesting to see the different interpretations people put on both the projects and the trips we make, with rarely two photos the same .Keep them coming.
Thank you for the photos for the General meeting. The entry is now closed as I am puting the show together over the next few days.I think I have contributions from 11 people all together so there should be enough to keep every one going.
The next meeting is Stromness at 2pm on Wednesday 6th March meeting at the Pier Head .An hour and half taking photos and tea then in Julia's .If it looks like it is going to be as bad as yesterday, I will make a late change to somewhere indoors with some editing ideas on the computer or the Walk on Hadrian's Wall that I was going to do  yesterday .
The Project this month is "Seasonal Weather" .Hopefully we will have snow ,frost or a good gale to record .If not ,look at your summer photos  and bring them
to warm us all up.

Keep Clicking, Tim

Thanks for organising this Tim and to Margaret, Barbara and Chris for sharing their excellent images. Thanks too to Hilary for arranging the venue, tea/coffee and lovely cake and shortbread.
