BOTANY OUTING JUNE

by Caroline Melody - 23:02 on 12 June 2014

Here we are at Yesnaby, with 3 copies of Rose and I of Scottish Wild Flowers, and 3 studious bots - and a fourth taking photos. We saw many, many lovely flowering plants, from buttercups and birds foot trefoil to grass of parnassus and wild thyme. We also found many rosettes of the scottish primula including a single beautiful bloom.

We didn't wander far from the cars, it was easy to get distracted and sidetracked by the treasures underfoot, so we sat down and looked closely at what we had in front of us. What bounty on the bare slopes of Yesnaby!

Next outing is going to be organised by May, to Honeysgeo, on Thursday 3rd of July. Meet at the Great Western Car Park at 1030am. I'll send a reminder email nearer the time.

Many thanks to all who came to make it a memorable day, to the abundant plant life and to the sunny day

Caroline
