PhotoGroup 1- 3rd April- Finstown

by Unknown - 18:51 on 03 April 2013

Thirteen of us went to Finstown today and made our way to the Community Garden ,a place not visited by many members before. The rain cleared as we got there and occasional flashes of sun were seen but it was reasonably warm.An obliging cat had it's photo taken many times as did the flowers and burn in the garden .Most then walked up the Heddle Hill for the view while some drove. Then back down to the Ouse and the bridge by the School followed by a sprint to the Standing Stones Hotel for tea and cakes.

We viewed the Stromness outing photos. What a variety ,from Museum Reflections,to work on the piers and the buildings and plaques of the Stromness Worthies. We had a number of collage photos to great effect too.
"Yellow" was the monthly theme and ,as Sally correctly surmised ,was because I had found lots of Yellow photos on our Stromness jaunt !.It proved to be a popular theme with rust smears on a yellow pipe,a  Jersey cow on a yellow butter dish, lots of yellow flowers ,a metallic cat and a rather sinister shadow on a yellow background at night.Well done to all who had a go in both sets of photos .There is a lot of imagination and thought as well as attention to detail going into the submissions.
The next meeting will be at 2pm Wednesday 1st May at Houton, meeting in the Oil Worker Car Park and not at the ferry terminal. We can go along the shore ,up the hill or right up to the top of the hill at Scorradale and look down on the Flow.I expect we will then go back to the Standing Stones for tea unless there are so few of us that we can go to the Ice Cream Parlour.
The theme for the monthly project is " Humour".Not quite such an easy one this month but one to put a smile on everyones face next time.
