PHOTOGRAPHY GROUP 1 - FEB 2014

by Tim Wright - 20:57 on 26 February 2014

Dear All,
Eleven of us met today in Dounby to view Member's contributions.
First off  was Winkie who gave us as view of " Colombia" and why it pays to know who your child is going to school with. Next was Bunty with " Shetland" and some beautiful scenes of Burra, her second home. Steve followed with "Accidental Art" a run through of his very artistic view of ordinary abstract pieces of paint ,rust ,and aspects of buildings. Last to go was Richard showing us a variety of "Churches " both local and South from Essex, Milan and Germany amongst others. Thank you all for your excellent work in entertaining us  for a couple of hours.
Tea was then taken and included some lovely cakes via Barbara and others. Thanks to the Tea ladies too. The men will do it next time  ( if you think they capable ! )
We then viewed the photos from St Magnus .Lots of standard views but some detail too from headstones, the woodwork and John Rae too. "Time" produced all sorts of funny interpretations but Sally's " Time Flies " clock, in full working order with flapping wings and speedy dial, stole the show. Well  done to everyone who contributed with some very amusing ideas.
The next meeting is at the Barony Mill at 2pm on Wednesday 12th March at 2 pm .The mill is in full working mode so bring a tripod to catch the essence of whirring machinery and flour covered millers. Tea will probably be at the Merkister at 3.30 or thereabouts. The project this month is "What or Where is this". It should be unusual photos of familiar objects or places .The usual 5 max photos .
While at the Merkister yesterday, Mr Munson told me that otters are to be seen at the end of the small branch of his pier on Loch Harry .They are with cubs and active up till 11 am and after 5pm.So if we are not in too much of a rush and the wind is in the right direction we may see them .
Keep clicking,
Tim
