PLAY READING

by Jeanne and John Graham - 09:12 on 24 April 2014

The play reading group today celebrated the 450th. birthday of Mr. William Shakespeare. We each chose a speech or sonnet from the great man's work. Pieces ranged from Prospero in the Tempest, to Titania in 'Midsummer's Night Dream, when she speaks of unseasonable weather. Four or five sonnets, including one on old age (no. 73.) . As the accompanying picture shows his health was drunk with an appropriate sherry called, 'Winter's Tale! The time's latest foods imported from the New World, by Sir Francis Drake, were on display; potatoes and tomatoes.
best wishes, all Jeanne and John
