Brilliant Day in Rousay
Three skiffs were towed across the Westray Firth to take part in the Rousay Regatta on Saturday. Leaving Tuquoy Bay at 9am they reached the Rousay Pier at 1030.
Followed by a briefing and a welcome cup of soup and sandwich the racing began soon after 12noon.
Conditions were close to ideal with bright sun but the wind could have been a bit more to counteract the tide.
After two rounds where all three skiffs shared the lead at different times Gordon Rendall in the Alice took the cup.
Mince & Tatties were followed by the greasy pole competition where there was a brief Rousay Westray "battle" and spectacular raft race and 7 happy but weary Westray men were safely home soon after 7pm.
Thanks to Rousay for a brilliant engaging and entertaining day
