A busy weekend of inter-county action sees both the Orkney Under 13 and Under 15 teams in action against their Shetland counterparts. The action begins on Saturday afternoon with the Under 15’s playing Shetland at the Picky Infield for the Peter Morrison Memorial Cup with a 1pm kick off. This fixture is eagerly anticipated as it will be the first time that the teams will have played each other at this age level since Orkney established an Under 15 squad in 2010.
The Under 13’s will be heading up to Shetland on Saturday night for their annual trip. On Monday morning they will play Shetland Under 13’s for the John W Thompson Memorial Cup. Shetland are the current holders of the trophy having narrowly defeated Orkney 3-2 in Kirkwall last May. Shetland are always difficult to beat on home soil but the Orkney lads will be confident as they are unbeaten in the seven matches they have played this year including a 2-0 victory over Shetland in a friendly match at Picky in May.
