The Autumn Silver Snipe series was scheduled to run with two races on Sunday afternoons for six weeks, from the beginning of September to 7 October, but so far only two races have taken place and racing has been lost for three out of four weeks because either there were not enough people to take part or because the weather conditions were unfavourable.
The series potentially has four more races to go over the next two Sundays, weather and numbers permitting. By sailing on both Sundays a boat can still qualify for a series result and a chance to win the trophy, even if it did not sail in the first two races held. So there is still all to sail for.
Regrettably, if racing cannot be held this coming Sunday, either because of adverse weather or because of lack of numbers, the series will be abandonned. Hopefully, the weather will be kind and a few more sailors will come along so that the series can be completed. In the meantime, thank you to those who have taken part so far or have turned up to sail or man the safety boat.
Cheers.
