TRIP TO HUNDA Wed 18th July
Thanks to Peter for doing the honour of being leader today for our walk around Hunda, which was done at a nice leisurely pace with plenty of time for everyone to enjoy the scenery , flora and fauna, also the birds along the way. At least the weather stayed dry and with low wind speed which made a change from our previous outings. Was nice to see some Arctic Skua also a colony of Common terns also, a colony of great black back gulls with their young, so all in all not a bad mornings walk at least we all enjoyed the company and chat along the way.
Hope you all enjoyed it and as discussed I will enquire about Rousay and let you all know in due course.
Many thanks to everyone
Ken

We caught the 10.40 am ferry from Tingwall to Rousay in the fog ! Next was a mini bus, with 100yds visibility, to Mid Howe but where is the Broch! All was not lost as by the time we had walked down towards it the fog had started to lift and then we experienced a really good day with the weather improving all the time.
We watched the gannets diving in Eynhallow sound and the arctic skua s trying to get a free meal from the mallimac's returning with sand eels . We walked along the shore to Westness Farm and back along the road , viewing whatever birds appeared along the way. We were lucky to see a number of northern divers during the day.
An enjoyable day was had by all with some light refreshments at the hostelry and it was probably a good seven mile walk. Back on the ferry and home in time for tea.
