PHOTOGRAPHY - SEPTEMBER
by Tim Wright - 18:01 on 19 September 2012
Eight of us met at Inganess beach this afternoon in glorious autumn sun and didn't see any showers. Two newcomers,Yvonne and Winkie were introduced to the intensive photo taking that that is not really part of our ethos. We had a good meander up the beach, looked at the bridge and took photos of a swimming dog and various flowers and boats and then shot off to the airport just as the rain threatened.A terrific set of photos from The Fossil Centre were perused with one Nautilus shell getting lots of attention and also a couple of crystals caught a lot of eyes."Fields" turned up photos from Kirkwall to Tuscany via Iceland where a lava field was the offering .Some wag thought it was Sally's back garden although it had elements of Richard's front garden when I visited him recently but the building work seems to be progressing nicely there now.
The next meeting will be at Eastside in South Ronaldsay on Wednesday 31st October. As it starts to get dark early, we intend to meet at the Sands Hotel in Burray at 12.30 to have lunch and then head off to Eastside then.Further instructions will follow nearer the date re poor weather alternatives if needed. Some may prefer to go to Barswick and see the seal pups but it can all be decided on the day.
The theme for this month is "Autumn"and you have 6 weeks to take Autumnal colours /light etc. Please bring four or five photo max 5x7 on this theme plus similar number on todays trip to Inganess.Anyone who wasn't there, just bring the last trip photos you were on .I will try and remember to bring the right photos next time and not close up and Quiz photos !!
Ann leaves this Friday to live in Aberdeenshire and we all wish her the best and hope she keeps clicking in the meantime ,so we can see her efforts when she comes back to visit.Good Luck Ann .
I hope to see you tomorrow for the photos of the Trips to Stroma and Caithness at 2pm in the Library upstairs meeting room.
Otherwise keep your camera handy at all times ,Tim
