PHOTOGRAPHY MARCH
by Tim Wright - 18:29 on 06 March 2013
Ten of us met today in Stromness in sun but a cool North Easterly wind. The piers in Stromness are buzzing with activity due to the Coplands Dock and the Renewables industry.Lots to take photos of and then to The Pier Arts Gallery to warm up.The Museum is not yet open so tea at Julia's was taken early.
We viewed the "Seasonal weather " project .It had produced all kinds of storms, snow ,ice ,fog and some sun to cheer us up .Richard had taken a sequence of photos over 5 days from his house at the same time showing the variation in winter weather we have been getting. An interesting ice formation by Bunty ,a ravaged Kirkwall harbour at night by Kim and some lovely colourd evening shots by Yvonne were memorable from a very, very good set of photos.Well done to everyone.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday April 3rd at 2pm meeting at Car park oppisite the Cemetry by the shore in the centre of Finstown. From there to go to the Ouse ,the Gardens ,up Heddle Hill or where ever takes your fancy. We will then go to Standing Stones for a cuppa and to warm up approx 3.30.
The project for the month is "Yellow".There should be a few Daffs and Primroses out by then. According to Sally ,today was 5 years since we started meeting as the Orkney U.3.A Photographic Group !
Keep clicking,
Tim
PS A futher U3A Photo Group may be in the process of being formed led by John Graham. This is because I feel we have enough in our group at present and there are at least 3 people wanting to join our group that I know of.There will be more information coming out about it in the next few weeks but feel free to take part in it if you are very keen.
The Alterative Stromness Pierhead Parliament!
Yes it's hard to believe - five years ago The Photography Group started with an introductory meeting at Tim's house on the 20th February 2008 followed by another on 12th March. We have met monthly ever since. Sal
