U3A Walking Group - 2nd September 2021

by Tim Wright - 17:18 on 02 September 2021

Eleven of us met in Picky car park to walk Wideford Hill. The weather was overcast, cool but no wind. We took cars to the start of the Wideford Cairn track and walked down to the Cairn itself. This, at last, was open having been locked for months because of the dreaded virus. A few people went inside to explore but as soon as they were finished we were off as the Midges had arrived for their lunch. Keeping moving was the best defense against them.

We went back up to the view point but although the views were good there was a degree of haze. Then it was back down the path and on to the tractor track for a stop at the Westbank Cafe. Excellent Coffee and Cake was provided by Phylida, "The Best Cafe on Wideford" according to one member of the group. Then back down Muddiesdale past the Ashes affected by Ash Die Back Disease to where we had started. A lovely day for everyone with many thanks to our pop up Cafe hostess.

The next walk will be THURSDAY 30th September. A reminder will be sent out nearer the day as to where we are going to go.
