U3A Photo Group One - December 2021

by Tim Wright - 17:34 on 15 December 2021

Nine of us met in the Computer Room at Dounby and enjoyed a nostalgic look at our 3 day trip to Lairg and surrounds. Not many of the 150 photos were duplicates although the Eco Boat house, the Stag and the Alladale Estate House were the most popular subjects. The biggest laugh was for the Romantic Bridge photos from Bi. We still can't work out the romance of this particular bridge.

We then looked at the "Stone" project photos. Lots of discussion over an excellent selection of photos, but my favourite was the Stone Couple in the moonlight by Bi. Then we had coffee and cakes courtesy of Barbara and Hilary. To finish off we had an Orkney Photo Quiz for a nice bottle of wine. It was a close call but Sally piped Bi and Hilary to the fizz on 30 points to their 29. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Many thanks to Hilary for arranging the venue and the trip to Lairg.

The next meeting will be Wednesday 19th Jan. Various ideas were put forward as to what we would do, but nearer the date all will be revealed. With the Covid escalating we might have to meet outside or maybe not at all. Anyway keep the date free and I will let you know nearer the time.

The project this month is "Food". Everything from ingredients, cooked, uncooked, on the plate or off the plate, whatever you think. However no photos of people with their mouth full, nor bulls on the field being passed off as steak !

Happy Christmas, Tim.
