U3A Walking Group - November 2022

by Tim Wright - 17:01 on 25 November 2022

Seven intrepid people decided that after the recent gales a breath of fresh air was needed. Promised dry weather and moderate winds we set out from the Sands of Wright. A strong southerly wind certainly got the fresh air into the lungs and the rain made an appearance by the time we passed Leila Thompson's Gallery (which incidentally is closed for the winter). Luckily the rain, though never heavy, had stopped by the time we arrived at Hoxa Head.

The sea was in turmoil and the cliff path was wet and with the strong wind too dangerous to attempt. Then back along the farm track with the wind pushing us along towards the quarry where we went left and had some respite from the blow. Lots of pheasants, two Hen Harriers and a fly past of Whooper Swans saw us back to the dam of Hoxa and the cars. Some of us then went to Robertson's for soup and cake followed by the Loft Gallery for the Exhibition. All in all it was so nice to get out after all the recent dubious walking weather.

The next walk will be in January a date to be decided as a month today it will be very nearly Christmas.

Keep moving, Tim.
