St Colm's Cafe is open again!
Staff and service users within the Lifestyles Service are delighted with the public reopening of our popular Friday Café. Although service users and staff have been enjoying café lunches on Fridays for some time, it only re-opened to the public on Friday 15th March 2024 with a limited amount of tables. These are currently needing to be pre-booked via our online booking system (https://www.brisktable.com/book?r=stcolmscafeandcrafts). The amount of tables bookable will increase over time. The addition of having delicious coffees and hot chocolates from our new professional machine has gone down very well with customers.
The group have also been going to UHI Orkney on Thursdays to make savoury or sweet items for selling at the Friday Café. They enjoy seeing our old friend and colleague Ann Lyall while up there!
The kitchen crew have also been busy providing catering for the education department next door, making lunches for those attending short courses. It’s all happening in the St Colm’s kitchen! Hopefully see you at the Café!
Our shop has reopened!
We are happy to welcome you at our premises at St Colm's, Pickaquoy Road (next to main entrance of Glaitness Primary) Monday-Friday between 9 and 4.30.
St Colm's Cafe & Crafts, based at St Colm’s in Kirkwall, provides valuable work-related opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in Orkney. Wood B Good produce a range of garden furniture and planters, smaller ornamental items and kindling/firewood. St Colm's Cards make a variety of quality, hand-made cards for all occasions. Prior to Covid, our Friday Cafe, open 10 to 2, served delicious savoury options, home bakes and hot drinks in a friendly and welcoming environment. We also have a polytunnel and a garden, where we grow a variety of fruit and veg, some of which we use in our cafe.
Following closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our cafe is not currently open. We will update on the progress of this on our Facebook page.
Here's a few photos of our service users enjoying their work.
